I liked your vivid description of the inn. A big man has got to be hungry and I felt compelled along with him by the smell of the bread.

I had to read “his mother appearing to swat his hand” twice – the first time I took it to mean 'she looked like she was swatting…'

I liked “He did not need a mother’s sense. Trouble stood before him.” This whole episode rolls right along nicely.
