True, eyes–and mirrors–have been used too often for metaphor and as devices. I never describe eyes unless crucial to the story, and try not to over-describe other character features (may have overdone it on Sebastian's size in previous parts.)

This is something I thought about several years ago when I first starting writing about these creatures for my novel. Here, I establish Tabitha's eyes under dim light–hinting unusual–and then describe the transition from moonlight into darkness. Since it didn't bother, there must be good balance. I use “unusual descriptors” for highly unusual eyes and to achieve the feeling that Sebastian is distracted by (fearful of) them.

I have no plans to revise description of Tabitha's eyes.
